Tata Curvv latest update
What is the latest update on the Tata Curvv?
The Tata Curvv has been revealed in the production-ready form and we now know what equipment each variant of the SUV-coupe will have on offer.
How much is the Curvv’s price?
Prices for the Tata Curvv will be revealed on September 2, 2024. We expect the upcoming SUV-coupe’s pricing to sit between Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
How many variants are there in Tata Curvv?
The Tata Curvv will be offered in four broad trims: Smart, Pure+, Creative, Accomplished. The last three further branch out to more variants, which come with additional features.
What features does the Curvv get?
The Tata Curvv’s features list include a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 9-speaker JBL sound system with subwoofer, panoramic sunroof, multi-colour ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat, a wireless phone charger and flush-type door handles.
What engine and transmission options are available?
Tata offers the Curvv with three engine options: a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, a new 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol and the familiar Nexon-sourced 1.5-litre diesel. Here are their respective specifications:
1.2-litre T-GDI Turbo-petrol: Revealed at the 2023 Auto Expo, this new engine debuts with the Tata Curvv. It produces 125 PS/225 Nm and will be mated to a 6-speed manual and optional dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).
A 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine making 120 PS/170 Nm mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCT.
1.5-litre Diesel: The Curvv will share its diesel engine with the Nexon, which produces 118 PS and 260 Nm. It is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed DCT.
How safe is the Tata Curvv?
Tata’s reputation for building five-star rated vehicles is well cemented and we expect the Curvv to replicate the same success and score in its crash safety test. As for features, it comes with plenty as standard, with the list including six airbags, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts and electronic stability control. Higher variants further pack a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system and even Level-2 ADAS including, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance assist.
Should you buy the Tata Curvv?
The Tata Curvv could be a worthy wait if you want a unique styling package to stand out from the conventionally styled compact SUVs. Moreover, it promises to build on the Nexon’s qualities with even more features and a new engine option – all of which will be packaged in a bigger car.
What are my alternatives?
When launched, the Tata Curvv will lock horns with the Citroen Basalt. It will also have its hands full as it’ll fend off competition from popular compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq. You can also go a segment above and consider the mid-spec variants of midsize SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV700, Mahindra Scorpio N, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and Hyundai Alcazar.
Alternatively, you can also check out sedans like the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, prices of which will be in a similar ballpark as the Curvv.
Other things to consider: You could consider the all-electric version of the Curvv, which has already been launched. Its prices start from Rs 17.49 lakh. Just like the Nexon EV, the Curvv EV also gets multiple powertrain options offering a claimed range of up to 585 km. Customers can also check out the Curvv EV at their nearest Tata showroom.
